A Mexican feast of life, memory and celebration — four courses, four stories and a colourful introduction to the traditions of Día de Muertos.
Día de Muertos — Day of the Dead — is an annual Mexican tradition centred on remembering and celebrating loved ones who have died. Celebrated across Mexico in late October and early November, families create ofrendas (decorated shrines to loved ones), filled with photographs, flowers, candles, food and treasured keepsakes, and gather together to remember those who came before them.
The tradition has particularly deep roots in Guerrero and Oaxaca, where Az is from, and where Día de Muertos remains an important part of family and community life. Food, storytelling, remembrance and gathering together all play a part — which makes it feel very much at home at The Shepherd’s Inn.
For Az, this evening is a chance to share a little of her own Mexican culture. Across four courses, she’ll introduce each dish and reveal something of what it represents and why it matters. Think part dinner, part storytelling and part celebration — relaxed, colourful and fun.
